Financial Operations Manager, Helena United Methodist

   Colleen Mahaffey Maxwell was born and raised in Childersburg,  AL.  She graduated from Childersburg High School and attended the University of Montevallo majoring in Business.  She finished a technical degree at Herzing College in Computer Science.  Over the years she has worked in the banking business as well as being the Financial Secretary for Christ  Church and Gordo First UMC before coming to Helena UMC in 2004 as our Administrative Assistant. 

     Growing up in the Baptist church she was very involved as a child to young adult.  In 1986 she started dating Jimmy Maxwell whom she had known since she was 12 years old.  They were married in April, 1987.  In 1990, Jimmy answered the call to ministry and so began her life as the wife of a minister.  They are currently starting a new church in the Bessemer/Hoover area.

    In 2000, Jimmy and Colleen adopted a son, Payne Mateo, from Quito, Ecuador.  He is the joy of their life.  He keeps them busy with ball and other activities.  Parenthood brought a wonderful change to their lives.  Colleen's mother, Olene Mahaffey, lives with them to help take care of Payne.  She is very blessed to have such a great family. 

     Her hobbies outside of whatever Payne is into are reading, Alabama football, crossword puzzles, and just chilling with friends on the weekends.
